Electric Square1/2023 – 8/2023 Senior Game Designer- Co-Dev on The Lords of the Fallen
Work internally with Design Directors to craft pitches for new IP projects which align with the portfolios of potential and current publishing partners at Electric Square
Acting design lead in Electric Square’s co-dev team, regularly communicating state of project with internal stakeholders, managing work, and providing mentorship when possible.
Responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of new features and behaviors on a selection of enemies and bosses
I don't have a lot to say about Electric Square as my time there was quite brief, so I'll keep this section short and sweet.
I joined Electric Square coming off the back of leaving Bossa as they needed someone to fill in for two of their Senior Game Designers they had lost ASAP. They were in the thick of Co-Dev on Lords of the Fallen, and it became my responsibility to pick up where the other two designers had left off - in creating and maintaining a handful of bosses and enemies in the game:
The Proselyte
The Crimson Rector
The Sundered Monarch
Harrower Dervla, the Pledged Knight.
I came into the process quite far along in development, and much of the skeleton of the enemies had already been made - my job was mostly to make them better, and make sure they behaved consistently with the intentions of creative leadership. Specifically, while I was there I created several new attacks, set up their BPs, create new AI behaviors for them, did a lot of bug fixing and make sure they were configured correctly so they would work within the systems of the rest of the game.
After we closed up shop on The Lords of the Fallen, I was slated to work on a currently unannounced project, making a boss enemy for an PvPvE extraction shooter. However, I ultimately left Electric Square to pursue my career ambitions as a Lead Designer at DPS Games.
Brief though it was, I quite enjoyed my time at Electric Square, and learned a lot about UE5 development from the incredibly talented team at CI Games.
